What do abiotic factors determine for an ecosystem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well,Most ecosystems are dependent on sunlight--a very important abiotic factor--for their energy. Sunlight is essential for most plant growth and hence, for primary and secondary consumers. Heat is another key factor. Lack of adequate warmth can also forestall plant growth. Most heat comes from direct sunlight but some is from advection or geothermal sources. Of course there are many other abiotic factors, like availability of water. Desert animals can get by with minimal amounts but rainforest and aquatic faunas especially need far more. Hope it helps...And oh yeah..m digging your name:))
