Should gun control be banned?

I'm preparing for a debate about gun control in class, and I'm on the anti-gun side.

yes guns should be banned for several reasons:
Children are affected by it. Guns are an unfortunate and dangerous reality in the lives of our children. Too many children in the United States are affected by gun violence in the form of death, non-fatal gun injuries, or the emotional after effects. Over one-third of all homes contain guns, and despite continuing educational efforts, the majority of these guns are kept loaded, unlocked and potentially accessible to children. Research indicates that if a gun is stored in a home, the risk of homicide increases threefold and the risk of suicide increases five-fold. Guns also are 43 times as likely to be used to kill a family member or someone known to a family than to kill a stranger. Children have easy access to guns. Over 5% of high school students indicated that they carried a gun in the past month, and it is estimated that approximately one million children bring guns to school each year. Many students who carry guns do so because they are afraid or influenced by peer pressure. What will it take for us to stop this senseless loss of young lives? Common sense gun laws can make the difference but the responsibility to keep the children safe doesn't end here. Individuals and families must remove guns from their homes so their children can be safe!

@Toothiana The 2nd amendment was targeted toward the militia and National Guards, instead of individuals. The "Right to bear arms" was only approved to prevent others from entering property and committing treason. A time when the "police" were not so widespread as it is today.

I think you should have a permit to own a gun, but I don't think guns should be banned.

Dolly did you read my last comment? Because it's true.Kids wouldn't get hurt if parents and adults would keep the guns away. it's not like guns have feet and walk round shooting. The people walk around shooting..... just saying

Most people who use guns for violence to kill innocent people, use/have it ILLEGALLY!!!! meaning they don't have a license or the right to have it. So it would be unfair to take it from people who do have the right to use it and use it legally, like for hunting and protection.

Taking the guns away will not stop violence, violent acts come from the brain. Meaning people who are violent will just find away to act, they will have gun somehow, and just think about it, kids will find a way to hurt each other, they're even using knives now to stab each other, do we ban knives too!

Here are my points:
-“Guns don’t kill people, people kill people”, but guns make it easier to do so. Crimes that may have been less harmful can be made more dangerous by adding guns.
-NRA makes a lot of money selling guns.
-Gun control equals absolute despotism.
-The 2nd amendment was targeted toward the militia and National Guards, instead of individuals. The "Right to bear arms" was only approved to prevent others from entering property and committing treason. A time when the "police" were not so widespread as it is today.
-If all guns are outlawed then no one would have to stop a violence with more violence.
-Gun’s sole purpose: to kill people. (to protect oneself by killing others).
