Mathematics 6 Online
OpenStudy (anonymous):

solve the equations.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\sqrt{x+4} =7\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\sqrt{7x-1} =5\] the first one i got 45

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

\[(\sqrt{x+4})^{2}=7^{2}\]

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

x+4=49 x=45

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\sqrt{17x-60} =x\]

hartnn (hartnn):

if you square that, it becomes quadratic equation, do u know how to solve quadratics ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@hartnn i do :)

hartnn (hartnn):

excellent! so what did you get for your 2nd question ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@hartnn no real solution the options for question 2 are 16 3.7 13.8 no real solution

hartnn (hartnn):

\(x^2-17x+60 =0\) did u get this ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@hartnn but 3.7 i feel like could be the possible answer

hartnn (hartnn):

and none of the options match the actual answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@hartnn 20 and -3 for \[x^2 - 17x + 60 = 0\]

hartnn (hartnn):

but 20*-3 is -60 and not +60 one more try ?

hartnn (hartnn):

how about 12 and 5 ? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@hartnn correct answer was {5,12} thank you for your help

hartnn (hartnn):

oh, you're welcome ^_^
