okay we have (z+6)^2=5 --> sqrt((z+6)^2)=sqrt(5) --> abs(z+6)=sqrt (5) (because we don't know the sign of z+6) so we have two cases ( |a|=b --> a=b or a=-b) z+6=sqrt(5) or z+6=-sqrt(5) i.e. z=sqrt(5)-6 or z=-sqrt(5)-6 those are the solutions of your equation.
