Grr. The charge is negative. Electrons orbit the nucleus in a "cloud" where electrons can be found, since there is no way to know with 100% certainty where an electron is at any given time.

Placement: electrons orbit the atom in shells
Charge: negative
Role in bonding: covalent, electrons are shared between elements (water). ionic, electrons are given up by one element to another (metals).
