He established the first Italian colony in North America after exploring the Hudson River. B. He explored parts of Canada for England, whose rulers used his trip to claim much of North America. C. He was the first European (after the Vikings) to actually reach the CONTINENT of North America. And, he was the first person to bring a potential missionary (her brought a Catholic priest - England was still Catholic at the time) with him to said continent.
