Which is the solution set of the compound inequality 3.5x - 10> -3 and 8x - 9< 39?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lets break this down into pieces 3.5x - 10> -3 how do we isolate x in this inequality, can you do it?

i have no idea what im doing at all

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3.5x - 10> -3 to get x all by it's self, i want to move the 10 to the other side with the -3 by adding 10 to both sides 3.5x - 10 + 10 > -3 +10 3.5x + 0 > -3 + 10 3.5x > 7 then I want to get rid of the 3.5 that is attached to the x, I do this by dividing both sides by 3.5 3.5x/3.5 > 7/3.5 x > 7/3.5 make sense? now you try for this equation? 8x - 9< 39
