evaluate g(x) for x for x=0,3,6,9,12,15, and 18 the image for the graph is http://www.webassign.net/mapleplots/6/2/c13f7764b81080be24cc7fa9af7565.gif I have all except 15 and 18 any help is great
u said g(x) and x there but the graph shows f(t)?
sorry left out some information ...g(x)=\[\int\limits_{0}^{x}\] f(t) dt
thats kinda important, golfergirl :P ok - tell me how u get the other values of g(x) for x=0...12 plz?
g(3=1/2*3*3=4.5(area of triangle g(6)=4.5-1/2*3*3=0 g(9)=0-1/2*3*3=-4.5 and so on but I do not understand g(15) which i need in order to get g(18)
yup yup good so u know g(x) represents the area under the graph of f(t) ;) u have got g(12) so u just need to calculate the area under f(t) between t=12 and 15 ok?
ok and 12=0
yup g(12)=0 and the area between t=12 n 15 looks like a.....what? hint: its a polygon...
a triangle
nope its a triangle between t=9 and 12 but between t=12 and 15, it is.....
|dw:1397857704985:dw|
parallelogram?
nope.....
ok well I don't know the shape then I guess
u need to know before u can calculate its area though :( check this out plz http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trapezoid
ok so i take the area of the trapezoid and take g(12)- that area?
correct :)
ok well i got 13.5 and this is not correct so can you please tell me where I went wrong because I did 3+6/2*3=13.5
|dw:1397858397483:dw| right?
|dw:1397858471472:dw|
yours is for g(18)
so following this it would be 3+6=9 9/2=4.5 4.5*3=13.5 which isn'tcorrect
ooops....sorry - yes, I got confused w g(18) hmmmm yes, g(15) should be 13.5....why is that not the right answer?
oh shoot yes this is correct. so now I have g(18)=36 thank you for your help
u are welcome - u did all the work by urself :)
