What is a palindrome?

OpenStudy (therealmeeeee):

A palindrome is a sentence, phrase, name, word or number series where the letters or numbers are in the same sequence when read forward or backwards.

for example otto 12321

It comes from Greek palindromos ‘running back again,’ from palin ‘again’ + drom- (from dramein ‘to run’). An example of a palindrome is "kayak" it is pronounced and read the same backwards. More complex palindromes are out there in a sentence form for example "nurses run."
