What is the difference between a B-field and an H-field?

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

B and H are different letters :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If u r talking about NMR spectroscopy, then B-field is the external magnetic field applied on the Hydrogen atom from outside. due to which proton of H jump to higher energy, and when the relax, its own magnetic field is changed due to spinning, i.e magnetic field of Hydrogen spinning is called as H-field.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B-field is magnetic field while H-field is the magnetic field strength (when B-field passes through a magnetic material) \[H=\frac{ B _{o} }{ \mu } \]
