Find the surface area of the figure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

all units are in cm and 3.14 is used for pi

OpenStudy (nikato):

So what do you have so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so this is a rectangular prism with a cylinder inside. but I can't remember how to get the surface area of the cylinder or the rectangular prism either.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so i reviewed the rules and i solved it can you please check my answer

OpenStudy (nikato):

Surface area is just the area of the shapes used to make this figure Lets start with the top and bottom rectangle which are the same What would be the area of two 4x8 rectangles?

OpenStudy (nikato):

And yea. I could check your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for the rectangular prism (top, bottom, two side) [2x8x4] + [2x4x10] = 144 for the faces of the rectangular prism 2[8x10 - 3.14x2^2] =134.88 for the cylinder WxL 4[2x3,14x2] = 50.24 so the total surface area will be 144+134.88+50.24 = 329.12 let me know if I did anything wrong please

OpenStudy (nikato):

Yup. That's 100% correct!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@nikato thanks a lot for checking my answer really appreciate it :) I'm glad I got it right, thanks

OpenStudy (nikato):
