Medal For Help - Which Equation matches this graph? a.y=2x2+2 b.y=-x2 c.y=2x2 d.y=3x2-4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What's the y-intercept of the graph?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

\[y = ax^2+bx+c \] is a parabola. if \(a < 0\) the parabola opens downward, and if \(a > 0\) the parabola opens upward. The vertex (which is either the lowest or highest point) will have an x-coordinate of \(\large-\frac{b}{2a}\) The y-intercept will be the value of \(y\) when you set \(x =0\) Those three bits of information will probably suffice.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Otherwise, pick a point that appears to have an easily-identified x-coordinate, evaluate the equation at that value of \(x\) and see if you get the matching value of \(y\).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its c y =2x^2

I see It runs through 2 to 2
