OpenStudy (anonymous):

the choices are provided in the image I tried to solve it but I didn't get the correct answer I guess

OpenStudy (itsbribro):

what was your answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 253.50

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its not correct

OpenStudy (itsbribro):

OMG that is hard i dont know im sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its ok, nvm :) thanks for trying though :)

Since u need to find the height of both square pyramids. This website might help http://www.calculatorsoup.com/calculators/geometry-solids/pyramid.php.

OpenStudy (nikato):

The left is a square pyramid right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Left one is a squared pyramid the right one is a rectangular pyramid

OpenStudy (nikato):

I got around 427 For the left, the base=144 And use pythagoereom theorem to find height of triangle, 6^2 + x^2 =15^2 and the height of triangle=3sqrt21 Then use it to find area of triangles 1/2 (12)(3sqrt21) x4(becuz there r 4 triangles) +144=SA of entire pyramid

OpenStudy (nikato):

Do the same on the right Base=288 For triangle with base 12 find the height using pyth. Again 6^2 +x^2 =20^2 x=2sqrt91 and use this to find area of the side triangles and get around 24sqrt91 Do the same for the front and back 12^2 +x^2 =20^2 x=16 And the area =1/2(16)(24) x2=384 Add them all up. 288+24sqrt91+384=SA of right pyramid And subtract this^ with what you got on the left and should get around 427

thank you so much for your help, this was really helpful t

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks @nikato

No problem. Glad to help
