The car won't use any gas until Sharon starts driving it. So the number of gallons of gas in the car's tank stays steady until then. When she starts out, the number of gallons decreases as the engine burns gas. At what time does the number of gallons in the tank seem to be steady (level)? A better question would be: what's the earliest time at which the no. of gallons seems to be steady? How many gallons are there in the tank at that time?

B: 5:00 P.M; 12 Gallons?

Cool! Looks as though you've answered both A and B in one shot!
