3x+4y=16 -4x-3y=-19

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

hero (hero):

Multiply both sides of the 1st equation by 4 Multiply both sides of the 2nd equation by 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then subtract them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

one of variable get eliminated

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then solve for remaining variable

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when we get value of variable

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f another

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did you get it or not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12x+16y=64 -12x-9y=-57

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it's (0,0)

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

12x + 16y = 64 -12x - 9y = -57 ---------------add 7y = 7 y = 1 do you see how I got that ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes i got it whic is (0,1)

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

now sub 1 in for y in either equation to find x 3x + 4y = 16 3x + 4(1) = 16 3x + 4 = 16 3x = 16 - 4 3x = 12 x = 4 check.. -4x - 3y = -19 -4(4) - 3(1) = -19 -16 - 3 = -19 -19 = -19 (correct) solution is : (4,1)

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

do you have any questions at all ?

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

if so, tag me and I will be happy to explain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank u :)
