They are in dry areas so everyone lives near them so they can use them a main resource for cleaning clothes bathing you know in the poorer countries

Well, the first civilizations grew around these rivers. The ancient Mesopotamian civilization grew around the Euphrates and Tigris, while the Egyptian civilization was centered around the Nile. People depended on these rivers to survive, so that's another reason to why these rivers are important.
