for x near 0, local linearization gives e^x (approximate =) 1+x using a graph , decide if the approximation is an over or underestimate, and estimate to one decimal place the magnitude of the error for -1.4 < x <1.4 |E(x)|

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=plot+%28e%5Ex%2C+1%2Bx%29+for+x%3D-1.4+to+1.4 its definitely an underestimate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got that but i dont know what the |E(x)| < ?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

well the error is the difference e^x - (1+x) http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=plot+e%5Ex+-%281%2Bx%29+for+x%3D-1.4+to+1.4 the max difference in interval is about 1.7

thank you
