The triangles are similar. The area of the larger triangle is 567 cm². What is the area of the smaller triangle?

Linear measure is 1/3 as much means area will be 1/9 as much. Take the 567 cm^2 and divide by nine.
The answer might be close to 63 cm^2.

As a matter of explanation, think about how you calculate the area of the triangle.\[A=\frac{bh}{2}\]If the triangles are similar, both the base and height will be smaller by the constant of proportion. Since they are multiplied, the difference in area is the proportion factor squared.
