tim has a rectangular prism with a length of 10 centimeters a width of 2 centimeters and an unknown height. He needs to build another rectangular prism with a length of 5 centimeters and the same height as the original prism. The volume of the two prisms will be the same. Find the wudth in centimeters of the new prism.

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Volume of prism1= Volume of prism2 Let height be y And width prism 2 be w 10cm x 2 x y = 5 x w x y 20y = 5w(y) 20 = 5w w = 4 Therefore the width of prism 2 is 4cm.
