when copper is expossed to air what happens?

Oxidation happens, it turns green like the Statue Of Liberty, and most pennies.

Over a course of time, copper is oxidized. It takes a while for it to occur of course. That's why older buildings with copper roofs are greeny blue and newer ones aren't.
