How do similar right triangles lead to the definitions of the trigonometric ratios?

OpenStudy (aravindg):

Because "similar" triangles always have their sides proportional. So be it any trigonometric ratio-sine,cosine,or tan. Then the ratio remains the same. I hope that makes sense.

Could you also say that if you have a fixed angle in a right triangle, no matter the size of the two triangles, the ratios always stay the same?

OpenStudy (aravindg):

Yep that is true.

Okay. Thanks :)
