The PLO was considered a terrorist organization by the US and Israel until 1991. It did perform a number of airplane hijackings in the 60s and 70s. The UN has given it observer status, so they aren't calling for its end. The PLO has renounced its charter sections which called for armed resistance and the destruction of Israel.
