Why did conflict arise between the Castro government and the United States government?

It was pure Cold War politicking and backstabbing. Castro nationalized many businesses in (such as oil refineries) Cuba that used to be run by the US, turning them into properties of the state. He was growing his ties to the Soviets and was clearly aligning himself and his government with the communist cause which the US saw as a direct threat especially during the Cold War.
