1.800 employees, want to sample 10%, so the sample size will be 80. You want a representative sample with the same proportion of workers as the whole population. Take 10% of each of the different positions: 10% of 100 = 10 executives 10% of 650 = 65 middle managers 10% of 50 = 5 custodial workers So pick 10 random executives, 65 random middle managers, and 5 random custodial workers. That way your sample is representative of the population.

There are 550 fish in the location of which 120 are yellow perch. Yellow perch make up 120/550 of the total fish found. If 20% of the total found fish are to comprise the sample, then 20% of 550 or 110 fish will be in the sample. The number of yellow perch in the sample is given by the proportion: 120/550 = x / 110 where x is the number of yellow perch in the sample Solving for x yields 24 yellow perch. Does that makes sense to you @hippo4
