solve a matrix for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\left[\begin{matrix}3x & 3 \\ x & 4\end{matrix}\right]\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

=5x+4

OpenStudy (loser66):

wat is it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The question?

OpenStudy (loser66):

the question is so nonsense. please, post the original one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\left[\begin{matrix}3x & 3 \\ x & 4\end{matrix}\right]=5x+4\] i don't know how to solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

from my work book

OpenStudy (loser66):

oh, it's not that, it is determinant, not a matrix

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh sorry

OpenStudy (loser66):

it says solve for x if determinant of the matrix = 5x+4 det (A) = 3x*4 - x*3 = 9x = 5x+4 --> 4x =4 --> x =1 so that, the matrix is \(\left[\begin{matrix}3&3\\1&4\end{matrix}\right]\)

thank you!
