factor the polynomial x^2-8x+17 completely

OpenStudy (anonymous):

factoring a polynomial like this, we first check if it is a perfect square trinomail. we do this by seeing if two terms of the problem are squares them selves. are two of the terms squares?

I know that x^2 is a square, becuase it has the power of 2, now 8x isn't a square. what about 17, is 17 a square?
