A plasma membrane and a cell wall are two different structures with different functions. A plasma membrane is made up of a phospholipid bilayer where as a cell wall is made up of cellulose and gives a plant its outer structure. A plant cell is the only cell with a cell wall but both plant and animal cells have plasma membranes.
