OpenStudy (anonymous):

which point would be considered an outlier? ANS:(9,9)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(1,1.2) is an outlier because it is more than 1 SD(standard deviation) away from the mean and that is I think the definition of an outlier.

OpenStudy (ranga):

Hint: If you look at the x and y values they are very close to each other except in one case.

OpenStudy (ranga):

I think it is (2, 4.3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ranga and @caters sorry it was the wrong one!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think now that it is either (2, 4.3) or (9,9) because both I think are more than 1 standard deviation from the mean.

OpenStudy (ranga):

Once again the x and y values are close to each other except in (6, 8.4). If you plot a 45 degree straight line, that is, y = x, most data points will lie close to the line except (6,8.4) will be farther away from the the line than the other points. So my answer is (6,8.4).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhhh okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you guys
