If the population of Jamestown can be represented by y=5,245(0.095)^t. what was the initial population and the growth/decay rate?

As kobe's graph easily shows, the growth/decay rate is pretty severe. After 1 year the population decreases to 498. Before I post any more, are you sure about the exponent in that formula? Could it be 1.095 instead?
