Isolate y in the equation 3x + 2y = 8.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Subtract 3x on both sides leaving you with 2y=8-3x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then divide both sides by 2 because to isolate y you would do the opposite of 2 • y which is division.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You divide the whole left side by 2 giving you y = 4 - 3x ---- 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The division line with the denominator of 2 is supposed to be under the 3x
