OpenStudy (yellowlegoguy99):

In which expression should the exponents be subtracted? (610)-7 2^9/5^9 (-1/2)^11 x (-1/2)^-4 3^8/3^5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, B and D are out cuz they are the same.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

fathomboy, what are you talking about ??? when you divide you subtract exponents, so it is either B or D. Now... i can NOT be B, b/c the numbers divided are not the same, so you can't subtract... therefore, it is D.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-_- @SolomonZelman im sorry, yea i admit i flopped on this one, thanks for telling me :) (no sarcasm)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

\(\Huge\color{blue}{ \bf \frac{3^{8} }{3^{5} } }\) \(\LARGE\color{blue}{ \bf 3^{8} \div 3^{5} }\) \(\LARGE\color{blue}{ \bf 3^{8-5} }\) \(\LARGE\color{blue}{ \bf 3^{3} }\) this is how it's done.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

it's alright :)
