Which cell structures cause the outer surface of the rough endoplasmic reticulum to appear rough?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ribosomes :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They are organelles that produce proteins for the cell. They are located on the rough endoplasmic reticulum. In most drawings and images, the ribosomes appear as dots, making the Endoplasmic Reticulum look rough. |dw:1398266587353:dw| Pardon my terrible drawing skills, but that is my representation of a cell. The squiggly shape thing is your Endoplasmic Reticulum, and the dots that are on it are the ribosomes.
