The APS is another gem left to us by Benjamin Franklin. He liked to get together with other smart people and talk about his interests. We forget that Franklin was a scientist. Actually. he was well known as a scientist. When he was France and Britain as a diplomat, he was well known in those countries for his electrical experiments and such. So his little group that met in Philadelphia from time to time became and important organization for scientists in the colonies, largely because HE was and important scientist. But it kept going after his death and still operates today.
