Write an equation of a line that is parallel to y = 5. Write an equation of a line that is perpendicular to y= 5. What do you notice about the equation of the perpendicular line?

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

yes but write y = 5 +1 as y = 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Parallel would be y={any number other than 5} and perpendicular would be x={any number at all}. Y=5 is just a strait horizontal line, so any other horizontal line is parallel and any vertical line is perpendicular.

OpenStudy (a1234):

Looks good to me, but it should be y = 5x + 1.
