One of the original functions of the British electronic computer was to __________. A. decode German war messages B. record all Japanese messages sent to the Germans C. plan battle strategies with the Russians to use against the French D. communicate with the Americans about the war efforts in Europe

I'd probably go with (A) to decode German war messages. They weren't powerful enough to help plan battle strategies during WW2 and there were other means at their disposal to eavesdrop and record messages from Japan. They also didn't need a computer to talk to the Americans, though they did use devices to encode their messages if they were intended to be secret.
