Find the geometric mean of each pair of numbers. If necessary, give the answer in simplest radical form. 7 and 11

OpenStudy (phi):

do you know how to find the geometric mean ? instead of adding (like we do to find the arithmetic mean i..e the average) we multiply the two numbers then (instead of dividing by 2) we take the square root.of the product

OpenStudy (phi):

yes. you get \[ \sqrt{77} \] notice that both 7 and 11 are prime numbers (can't be factored into smaller numbers) so we can't simplify the square root. sqr(77) is the simplest form of the answer

OpenStudy (cookiemonster2412):

ok thank you
