Consider the region R bounded by the curve y=x^2, the x-axis and the line x=2. If the region R is rotated about the x-axis, find the volume of the resulting solid using the method of washers.

So little r would be 0 yes?

I just need to know if little r is 0 or not :/.

Cmon anyone? I just need to know if r is 0???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

R-0

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

I am thinking that yes, little r has to be 0. Since the axis of rotation is also the boundary of the region, there is no interior section to remove.

Thank you so much, I was thinking the exact same thing!

Glad to help! I thought it was a little strange that they suggest washers, I think they call the method with little r = 0 the disk method. lol

Yeah ikr it was on a quiz and I used 0, wanted to make sure. I think its there to trick you.
