could you come up with a simple way to compare two energy transformation systems to see which one is more efficient?

Not sure if this is what you mean, but I asked my dad because he's an electrician. My dad says, "Compare gasoline engine to electrical generation of power. Or a water turbine turning an powering a electrical generator." Hope this will help! :)
