if we close each head of a spring together , then the spring has potential energy . and if we put it in the acid , the spring will be destroyed , and then what will the potential energy converted to ? or this physical experiment is violation the Conservation of Energy?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you think?!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think the acid will be warmer !!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That is correct!..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But how ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well.. when the spring gets destroyed.. it doesn't disappear right?.. it just breaks into small small little little pieces.. right? (may be too little for us to see) imagine the spring broke into two pieces.. (just for simplicity) don' you see how those two pieces would fly away? and decompress? and that energy is basically transferred to the acid?
