Divide f(x) by d(x), and write a summary statement in the form indicated. f(x) = x4 + 5x3 - 2x2 + 5x - 3; d(x) = x2 + 1 A: f(x) = (x2 + 1)( x2 + 5x - 3) B: f(x) = (x2 + 1)( x2 + 5x - 3) - 15x - 9 C: f(x) = (x2 + 1)( x2 - 5x - 3) - 15x - 9 D: f(x) = (x2 + 1)( x2 - 5x - 3) Please help me! Is it B??

You could use either long division or synthetic division. Which sounds easier to you? Go for it. Or ask for some guidance towards finding your own answer.

c

So its C?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Please let's not deal in a, b or c. Why not actually do the work and then know for sure which answer is the correct one? You'll need this skill later on.

Use the Rational Zeros Theorem to write a list of all possible rational zeros of the function. f(x) = -2x4 + 4x3 + 3x2 + 18 Can you guys also help me solve this? I never understood this!

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Would you mind posting each new question as a new question? Type it into the "Ask a question" box. Could you please explain what "rational zero" means?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A rational zero of a function f(x) is a zero which is rational. By definition, a rational number is one which can be expressed as m/n, for m and n integers and for n non-zero Can u help me?
