Trying to figure this out.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what have you gotten so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

None, I'm not sure where to start.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what does it mean to me a zero of a polynomial? or of any function?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

try an example to make it mire concrete: P(x) = x+4, what value of x makes P(x)=0? How would you describe that value?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

*more concrete

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x = 4, correct?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

P(x) = 0 , but P(x) = x+4 sooo x+4 = 0, when x=-4; therefore P(-4) = 0 in this case c = -4, which of the options can we eliminate now?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

does P(0) = -4? does x=-(-4) produce a zero in this poly? is -4 a factor of the poly? whatever that means ... is -4 the x intercept of the graph of this poly?
