diction is the choice and use of words in writing. it's the way the author chooses to write. by using certain types of diction, you can change the way that your writing comes across. for example, if you refer to someone as a doctor, they are just a doctor. but, if you refer to them as a physician, they seem more important...make sense? kind of like an attorney vs. a lawyer.
