Are 6ab and 4ba like terms? Explain your reasoning?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

not unless ab = ba, for all a,b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk, thats just what the question says.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

.... then explain your reasoning :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

See im not good at math, and this is really starting to frustrate me!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

are 6x and 4x like terms?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

6x means: x + x + x + x + x + x 4x means: x + x + x + x so in this case, the are all the same term ... a bunch of xs

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if ab = ba, then 6 abs, and 4 bas would just be a bunch of abs, or bas otherwise, you have 6 of one term, and 4 of another
