A town has 100 homes in it. According to a census, the actual distribution of pets in these homes gives a median of 0.8 pets and a mode of 1 pet. A student surveys 10 of these homes and finds nearly identical data: a median of 0.7 pets per home with a mode of 1. The student’s small survey gives nearly the same results as the much larger census because the A) town itself is very small. B) student simply got lucky.
