OpenStudy (anonymous):

in an electric field does the magnetic needle(at north pole) of a compass move towards the field or away from the field.

OpenStudy (ybarrap):

The electric field will not produce a torque on the magnetic needle. However, a \(magnetic\) field will produce a torque on the needle in such a way that the north pole of the needle points in the same direction as the magnetic field.
