The probability that a student chosen at random from your class is a history major is 0.27. The probability a student is an English major is 0.13. What is the probability that a student chosen at random from your class is majoring in something else besides history or English?

1 - 0.13 - 0.27 = 0.60 Probabilities have to add up to 1. So you subtract the known probabilities from 1 to get the unknown probability.
