can anyone help me solve tanx = cosx im having a bit of trouble

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sinx / cosx = cos x sin x = cos^2 (x) sin x = 1 - sin^2 (x) sin ^2 (x) + sin x - 1 = 0

Can you continue from here on? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

make sin x = y and solve it quadratically.

I've gotten to that stage and that's where I have trouble, I end up with sin^x + sinx - 1 = 0 which can't be factorised, is there a different way of doing it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have to use the quadratic formula :)

oh okay, thanks
