I NEED MAJOR HELP! WILL FAN AND MEDAL!!:) How can a magnetic field be used to generate an electric current? A. When a magnet moves near a wire, the domains in the magnet line up and flow through the wire as electric current. B. Electrons in a wire flow when a stationary magnet causes the electrical field to change. C. When a magnet moves near a wire, its changing field causes the electrons in the wire to flow as electric current. D. Electric current flows when a stationary magnet causes the magnetic field to change.

OpenStudy (macabbey101):

@Puahina could you try and help me on this question please?:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you think!?

OpenStudy (macabbey101):

i am really not sure. i am absolutely stumped on this one. at first i thought it was A... but im rethinking that :(

OpenStudy (macabbey101):

or B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If u have a loop of wire.. and magnet.. with you how can u produce a current in the wire?!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A magnet field can only cause a current to flow when there is movement

OpenStudy (macabbey101):

so it would be c?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

answer me first :P

OpenStudy (macabbey101):

a coil goes around a nail. the more coil is around it the more electric flow there will be. correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tehre is no nail.. there is just a loop of wire.. and i give u a magnet.. THATS it GO.. produce a current.. NOW..!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@macabbey101 Correct it is C. But we still want you too tell u how it would be C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

us*

OpenStudy (macabbey101):

ok so you said there had to be movement in it right? so when the when the magnet moves closer tothe wire it causes the electrons to flow and that is what makes electric current

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what if i move the magnet AWAY from the wire?! what do you think happens then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I guess @Puahina can take care of this.. ll leave bye :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good your understanding it. Electricity takes three things to happen / be available at the same time to be created. Those things are: 1. Magnetism 2. A Conductor ( a coil/ Loop of wire ), 3. RELATIVE MOTION ( The Magnet has to move perpendicular to thr wire , OR the Wire has to move perpendicular to the Magnet.

@macabbey101 Do you understand?
