best software for scheduling projects ?
Depends. Many companies with a Microsoft backend will probably be using Microsoft Project on some level for their hires. But there's also a free alternative which is also pretty powerful called ProjectLibre ( http://www.projectlibre.org/).
That is kind of like asking what sort of vehicle is best. Best for what? Commuting alone? Carrying 20 tonnes of coal? There are a ton of project management programs. Some are for specific types of projects, like construction vs. programming. Some are tied into certain mindsets, like Agile or Scrum. You need to define the types of projects, then look at what software is best for that. Then you will have a smaller list to deal with. The one you write yourself that does exactly what you want according to the arbitrary rules you choose to regulate your workflow.
IMO: vi Helps you do needed planning, discourages meetings and scares Windows/corporate obstructionists. Can't make a more efficient plan than that!
