OpenStudy (anonymous):

Fat and ATP and different molecules that can be described as storing energy. Compare the functions of these molecules in terms of energy source.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

fat is the stored version of ATP. Fat can be broken down into ATP molecules, which then break down to release energy. Hope this helps :D

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

fats are stored form of energy. as they are water insoluble they can be stored for a longer time. when in need fats r broken down into simpler monomers and the energy released during this break down is harnessed to produce ATP. ATP is the immediate form of energy available to do work. its like d currency of the cell. ATP can be formed by breakdown of other energy rich molecules like different carbohydrates which are always considered first for breakdown rather than fats. plus under extreme conditions proteins are also brokendown to get energy.
